Synopsis
In the front of City Hall, Cap'n Turbot demonstrates his tying skills to Ryder and the pups by tying a knot into a puppy pull-toy when Mayor Goodway appears, greeting them and showing off the two colorful pearl bracelets she bought for herself and Chickaletta. After Cap'n Turbot explains to the group that the different colored pearls come from the Magic Shell in Puplantis, which only produces them once a year, the group tell each other their favorite colors while Mayor Humdinger, eavesdropping behind the hedges, conjures up a plan to swipe a purple pearl for himself.
Once he returns to Foggy Bottom, outside his lair, Mayor Humdinger has the Kitten Catastrophe Crew push out his mechanical shark. After hearing Cat Rubble's warning, Humdinger disguises himself as a Mer-Pup to rid himself of any suspicion before entering the mechanical shark sub with the kitties where they dive towards the outskirts of Puplantis.
Once there, Mayor Humdinger orders the kitties to hide the sub near town and wait for his signal to create mischief before exiting the sub and swimming over to a group of harmonizing Mer-Pups. As he sings along, though off-key, with them, Coral appears, welcomes him, and introduces herself before asking him a barrage of personal questions in which he fibs about being a "Merman" named "Mayor Merdinger" from "Humlantis". After he asks about the colored pearls, Coral takes him inside the castle to the pearl room where the Magic Shell is producing a variety of different colored pearls, which Mama Mer-Pup and her baby store away in the empty shelves of the room. As she looks for a place to put the newly formed purple pearl, on Humdinger's signal, the Kitten Catastrophe Crew use the mechanical shark to knock down a statue of King Mer-Pup, luring Coral and the Mer-Pups back outside. Humdinger uses this opportunity to swipe the purple pearl, but the clam recognizes that he is not a real Mer-Pup and shuts its shell immediately. Meanwhile, outside the castle, Coral, Mama, and Baby Mer-Pup try to lift the statue up, but it is too heavy, so Coral opts for calling the PAW Patrol for help instead via her pup-tag.
Back at the Lookout, Ryder receives Coral's call, learns about the situation with the mechanical shark, and summons the PAW Patrol to the PAW Patroller where, after it rides off the pier and dives into the water as the Whale Patroller, they are suited up in their Aqua Pups gear along with Coral, who swims in through an opening atop the Patroller, and briefed on their mission. Ryder assigns Skye to use her Manta Ray drone to search for the shark, Chase to use his net to stop it, Coral to show them the location of where she last saw it, and Rubble to use his Hammerhead to push the statue back in place. With that, the team deploys with Skye and Chase being the first to slide down into their respective vehicles, and set off for Puplantis.
Meanwhile, inside the castle, Mayor Humdinger pretends to leave to trick the Magic Shell into reopening, swiping the purple pearl, but in doing so, his costume's tail gets stuck inside the clam's shell. With the PAW Patrol arriving outside the castle, he swims away to his shark sub, but is unable to get inside due to the clam's massive size. In an attempt to enter at a different angle, he accidentally drops the purple pearl and encounters a real shark who is curious of his mechanical one.
Back outside the castle, while Rubble uses his Hammerhead to lift the statue and Skye sends out her Manta Ray drone to search for the shark, Chase questions Coral about the shark's appearance, suspecting it to be Mayor Humdinger's after learning of his fake identity. He, along with Ryder and Coral swim over to the pearl room, realizing that the Magic Shell is missing. Fortunately, just as Chase and Ryder conclude Mayor Humdinger to be the culprit, Skye reports that her drone has found him, his mechanical shark, and a real shark off in the distance. To lure the shark away, Chase uses his shark sub to distract and play with it while Ryder and Coral swim over to help Humdinger. Using the bubbles from her bubble launcher, Coral tickles the clam, forcing it to open its shell and release its grip on Humdinger's tail.
Though upset, Mayor Humdinger gives up the purple pearl to Ryder, who returns it to Puplantis, and returns into the mechanical shark with his kitties. With the Magic Shell secured in his net, Chase returns it to its rightful place in the pearl room where Coral thanks the team for the rescue. Meanwhile, on their way back to Foggy Bottom, a panicked Humdinger urges the kitties to drive the sub straight as the shark from earlier returns and follows after them.
