Synopsis
The pups are practicing their skateboarding skills at the Lookout, though Zuma wipes out after attempting an ollie. Meanwhile, out at sea, Traveling Travis is searching for an island where he can land for lunch, and spots the Flounder instead. Cap'n Turbot, as it turns out, is out at sea to practice his somewhat tuneless accordion playing without disturbing anyone else. Unfortunately, his ship is then hooked by Travis' anchor, and a williwaw-a strong sea wind-blows Traveling Travis' hot air balloon and the Flounder off into the sky.
Cap'n Turbot calls Ryder with word of their predicament, just in time for the balloon and the ship to become stranded in the desert. Ryder quickly calls the pups into the Lookout, with Marshall tripping up over his skateboard to crash into the pups. After a somewhat unusual debriefing, Ryder selects Rocky, Rubble, and Zuma for the mission. Rocky is tasked with building a trailer for the Flounder, Rubble with pushing the boat onto the trailer using his rig, and Zuma with filling Travis' balloon-now converted into a sail-with air so that it can pull the Flounder on its trailer back to the bay.
After Travis proves a surprisingly enthusiastic audience for Cap'n Turbot's accordion playing, Ryder and the pups arrive on the scene. The trailer is soon assembled and the balloon converted into a sail; however, Zuma's hovercraft is too low to blow air into the sail. Rubble provides an assist using his lift, and the Desert Flounder as Travis dubs their strange new craft is soon underway. Unfortunately, the bizarre craft begins racing away from Ryder and the pups, forcing Rubble to get ahead and clear rocks out of the boat's path.
Travis' unreliable driving sends the Flounder off the edge of a canyon, and the boat is once again airborne. At Ryder's direction, Zuma drives his hovercraft onto the trailer and treats it like a massive skateboard, successfully completing an ollie as he gets it up on the other side of the canyon. This allows it to be in position for the Flounder to land atop it, and the boat is then safely returned to the sea. Travis' balloon is soon back in its usual shape, and Travis himself is soon back in the air on another flight to who knows where.
