Synopsis
One sunset at the Lookout, the pups are having a frog race, hopping like frogs in an effort to cross the finish line first. After everyone but Marshall ends up crashing-for once-Ryder tells the pups it's time to turn in. Meanwhile, Mr. Porter and Alex are out camping with Everest, with Mr. Porter telling his grandson and the pup a scary story before bed. Later, Alex is disturbed by unfamiliar noises, but Everest is unconcerned until a loud noise that even she doesn't recognize rings out.
Frogs begin fleeing in a mob from the nearby pond, and while investigating the trio spot a pair of glowing red eyes. Mr. Porter quickly puts in a call to Ryder, and Marshall manages to launch himself into the elevator and avoid crashing into the other pups as they make their way in for a debriefing. Chase is selected to put his spy gear to work on this mission, and Everest-already present at the scene-is assigned to join the mission as well. Everest is tasked with searching the woods while Ryder and Chase inspect the pond, with Alex being convinced that the "Phantom of the Frog Pond" from his grandfather's campfire story is to blame for the strange goings on.
Chase's search causes him to start sneezing, and Ryder and both pups close in on a strange moving shape that proves to be Mayor Humdinger riding the Kitten Catastrophe Crew's cat carrier. They question the mayor's presence and his possession of a bucket, which he claims is his new "hiking helmet". After he leaves, Mayor Goodway calls to alert Ryder that the frogs from the pond have made their way to her tulip patch in front of city hall. An attempt to wrangle them with Chase's net proves ineffective, and Ryder decides to call upon Marshall for assistance.
Repeating his frog act from the earlier race, Marshall successfully leads the frogs back to their pond. However, the strange noises from earlier reoccur, and more glowing eyes are spotted. Chase shines a light and reveals them to belong to bullfrogs, which Mayor Humdinger has been dumping into the frog pond. He reveals that the frogs have been keeping him awake in Froggy Bottom, which is why Everest didn't recognize their noise earlier. Everest returns them home, and when Mayor Humdinger attempts to command his kitties to deal with the pesky amphibians, he finds them joining in on the bullfrogs' "song".
