Pups Save the Rainbow

"Pups Save the Rainbow" is the second segment of the 5th episode in Season 10 of PAW Patrol.

Summary

In a dream, Mayor Humdinger finds a prism that makes rainbows and drains Adventure Bay of color. It's up to the pups to restore color to Adventure Bay.

Synopsis

The episode opens with Skye, Marshall and Rubble making paintings of Ryder. When they're done, Ryder compliments each of their works, including the paw painting that Rubble made.

At Foggy Bottom, Mayor Humdinger is using a metal detector to find himself something valuable. When the metal detector finds something, he realizes it's another bottle cap, much to his kitties' amusement. After searching with no success, Mayor Humdinger decides he needs a little nap while the kittens try to find something for him.

When the dream starts, Mayor Humdinger wakes up and wonders where his kitties went. Then, he trips over his metal detector and finds himself another bottle cap. What he didn't expect is that he would stub his toe against a prism in the sand, though he can't figure out what it is until his computer identifies it.

Mayor Humdinger displays the prism at the Foggy Bottom park and demands it to do something. At first, the rain starts kicking in but it quickly replaces it with sunshine afterwards. With the sunshine, it reflects off the prism and creates a rainbow, with Mayor Humdinger declaring his town, "Home of the Rainbow". The rainbow retracts when the clouds cover the sun again, so he decides to spin the prism to bring it back. Mayor Humdinger's tactic works but wonders where the strips of colors are coming from. He uses his telescope to find out and sees Mayor Goodway planning her rainbow tulip garden until the colors vanish. She is in shock about which tulip is which and decides to plant them first and sort it out later.

The scene switches to Mr. Porter selling ice pops, calling out to all citizens around the beach. When the woman asks for a Magic Mango, the colors have gone missing and Mr. Porter can't figure out which ice pop is which. He tries to smell each one of it, but because of his allergies, he can't smell it. Tasting the ice pops is another option for him, though it only brings disgust to his customers and they decide that they don't want it anymore.

With the colors being drained around Adventure Bay, the traffic can't continue since the traffic lights lost their colors in the process as well. Mayor Goodway notices the colors are gone around her town and it's a much bigger problem than her tulip garden, and more dangerous, so she calls Ryder for help. Once Ryder answers his pup pad, she tells him about all the issues. Then, Mr. Porter calls and tells Ryder he can't tell which ice pop is which, and it's melting fast. Ryder tells them he and the pups are on their way and summons the pups to the Lookout.

Once the pups arrive, Ryder tells them all colors around Adventure Bay went missing, and it's their job to help the citizens out. He asks Chase and Rubble for the mission, with Chase handling the traffic jam and Rubble using his good sense of smell to help Mr. Porter to figure out which ice pop flavor is which. The team deploy, and head out to the colorless Adventure Bay.

With the pups doing their jobs, Mayor Goodway informs Ryder about her tulips and wonders where all the colors went. That’s until Mayor Humdinger, riding on his kitty carrier, passing out flyers, promoting his town as the “Home of the Rainbow”. Then, Ryder calls Skye and tells her to fly over Foggy Bottom to look for anything suspicious. With her flying over the town, she discovers a strange looking prism by the park. With that said to Ryder, he calls Rubble to head over to Foggy Bottom.

Back at Foggy Bottom, Ryder calls Marshall to head over as quickly as he can. Right after the call, Cletus tells Ryder two trains are heading towards each other, and he can’t figure out which lever is the track switcher, so Ryder calls Rocky to help Cletus. When Marshall arrives, Ryder tells him when he signals, launch his water cannons to the sky like rain, so it creates a rainbow. With Mayor Humdinger being aware of Ryder’s presence, Ryder signals Marshall to activate his water cannons and spray it at the sky to create a rainbow. With the rainbow being made, Ryder convinces Mayor Humdinger that there might be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Now being distracted, Rubble is getting ready to use his crane to smash the prism.

When Rocky arrives at the train station, he asks Cletus on which hand he pulls the track switcher. With Cletus attempting to figure out the train switcher mishap, the two trains are getting closer and closer by the minute.

With Mayor Humdinger still being distracted, Rubble is getting ready to use his crane to lift the prism off its grabber. Now being lifted, he drives toward a mountain ledge and smashes the prism, returning the colors to Adventure Bay. It is a close call for the trains since Cletus almost pulls the wrong lever and Rocky helps him to pull the correct one, with Cletus pulling levers back again. Now that the colors have returned, Marshall stops using his water cannons and Mayor Humdinger gets all wet when there is no pot of gold after all.

Now that the dream is over, Mayor Humdinger is in disbelief when everything was a dream and heads over to Adventure Bay. At Adventure Bay, he wants to tell Mayor Goodway about the crazy dream he had, but she doesn’t have time because she still needs to work on her tulip garden. The episode concludes with her declaring Adventure Bay being the home of the tulip rainbow and Mayor Humdinger still distraught that even in his dreams, he can’t win.
