Synopsis
Ryder and the pups are visiting Barkingburg and helping the Princess of Barkingburg, unaware that the Duke of Flappington and Claw are enacting a scheme to trick them. Using a mockup of the legendary Bone of Excalibark, they intend to have Claw pull it out of the stone so he can assume the authority of the Royal Knight, which will allow him to appoint the Duke as king of Barkingburg. However, after the villains summon everyone out to witness this, Claw's pincer malfunctions, and Chase ends up pulling the false Excalibark out of the stone and being appointed Royal Knight. Determined to succeed in their plan, the Duke orders Claw to reclaim the bone, which he does by having Sparks smash the bridge leading out of Barkingburg Castle.
Chase, out on a carriage ride with the princess, soon discovers that being the Royal Knight isn't all it's cracked up to be, as he's forbidden to get involved in any rescues. As such, when Claw and Sparks attack, the Princess calls upon Ryder and the other pups. Marshall ends up tripping on a suit of armor the pups are helping to reassemble after Ryder calls them in for the mission briefing. Rocky and Rubble are called upon to repair the bridge, while the urgency of the situation prompts Ryder to deploy the remaining pups as well.
Skye goes to confront Claw but is forced to catch the spire of Big Benji when Sparks knocks it down. Sparks is then able to take Excalibark, and Chase finally convinces the Princess to let him get back into action. He joins the other pups, and then discovers that Excalibark is fake when Claw breaks it while on his way to meet the Duke at the castle. With his plans thwarted, the Duke makes his escape, and Chase manages to make Sparks drop Claw to a safe landing on his net by launching a tennis ball bolas. Chase is not at all displeased to find that he's no longer the Royal Knight, though he warmly receives the Princess' gratitude for his heroism.
